Daily Tarot: Eight of Earth

“Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.” Kahlil Gibran

As the famed architect, Mies van der Rohe once noted, “God is in the details.”  Today, your attention is directed toward applying your skills in what may be a labor of love, particularly in areas where craftsmanship, design or a focus on the minutia is required. You may be putting your efforts toward securing the future by developing a talent, managing your financial investments, or pushing to move up a notch on the ladder of success. The means by which you seek to fulfill these goals could be through training, education, entering a new field or striking out on your own, but the emphasis is that you’ve decided to take an active role. Any challenges you face only serve to light the fire of your motivation and determination to succeed.

However, the devil also resides within the details, and you could easily find yourself living out a rut and involved in a boring, repetitive cycle. You could get so caught up in the details that you fail to see the bigger picture. Perhaps it’s time to move on from a dead-end job or take better care of your health. You may need to pay off bills or deal with an unexpected emergency that takes a bite out of your savings.  Is your environment tainted with nit-picking criticism where the only focus is petty fault-finding?

Imagine Pink Floyd playing softly in the background–“.. out of the corner of my eye, I turned to look but it was gone. I cannot put my finger on it now. The child is grown. The dream is gone.” The question is, are your comfortable or “comfortably numb”?
