“Anxiety is a thin stream of fear trickling through the mind. If encouraged, it cuts a channel into which all other thoughts are drained.” Arthur Somers Roche
Counting sheep last night probably didn’t cut the mustard in delivering peaceful slumber, or a bout of insomnia could be waiting for you at bedtime tonight. But somewhere in your world, there is a dilemma that you’re obsessing over, maybe to the point of a migraine, and this is at the real root of your sleeplessness. It could be concern over an illness, a conundrum of some sort, or perhaps excessive worry that a loved one will make the “wrong” decision. Part of the issue is that either you haven’t been able to come up with any solution, or there’s a single-minded focus on what you perceive to be the only valid option. However, were you to take a closer look, you might realize that there are, indeed, other alternatives, though they may not be your first choice. Perhaps there is an uncomfortable fix that you prefer not to consider because of pride or principle. Of course, perspective is key. As long as your remain closed to possibilities, you’ll stay stuck in a state of stress. You’ll need to examine whether achieving the desired outcome in spite of the consequence is worth it, and more importantly, if the choice is even rightfully yours to make.
