The first eclipse of this year arrives as a slow-moving partial solar eclipse (only a portion of the sun is blocked by the moon) occurring in the sign of Taurus. Ancient astrologers viewed this annual occurring phenomenon, especially solar eclipses, as a malefic precursor of negative energy thought to have the strongest effect on places where the eclipse is visible. The influence is also considered when the eclipse is in close proximity to angles and planets in the charts of nations and cities, and in countries whose ruling planet is also ruler of the sign in which the eclipse falls, as well as strong placements in the natal chart of leaders.
According to NASA, this particular eclipse can be witnessed either just before and during sunset by Chile, Argentina, most of Uruguay, western Paraguay, southwestern Bolivia, southeastern Peru, and a small area of southwestern Brazil. The eclipse will also be visible along parts of the northwestern coastline of Antarctica, in the Atlantic Ocean just off the southeastern coast of South America, including the Falkland Islands, and in much of the South Pacific Ocean and Southern Ocean.
But not all eclipses presage doom. While it’s generally hard to predict the nature of how an eclipse will express on a personal level, you can look to the house in which it falls in the natal chart and its opposite to determine the areas of concern. With placement in Taurus, part of the goal at this time may be to seek knowledge and education as a means of achieving greater material security.
