Baby, I’m Back(wards)|Venus Retrograde 2020

Venus in Gemini|May 12 – June 26, 2020

If ever there was a time to put on your velvet gloves to handle your business, this would be it. Venus turned retrograde in the sign of Gemini on May 12 and will stay so until June 26, although her shadow period will extend a bit further. It’s time to re-examine alliances in the context of our self-professed value system. With Venus in Gemini, that will surely mean addressing communication and the parts of our lives where we’ve been wearing two faces or just skimming the surface. In short, words matter.

Don’t expect “rock your world” to carry the familiar connotation during this period. Aside from the requisite reappearance of old loves who didn’t get the memo the first time around coupled with the possibility for financial calamity, you’re encouraged to look at whether you’ve been honoring and acknowledging your self worth. The issues you’re likely to face during this cycle are directly relevant to the manner in which you consistently sell yourself short and where you’re all too willing to sell out. While you sort through the significance of this, you’ll probably feel a bit less than as the people in your life stir up all of your insecurities.

It’s no accident that during this period of pandemic, Venus asks us to reconsider how we socialize. She’s in easy trine with an Aquarius moon indicating an objective consideration of keeping our distance and how our exchanges will affect the collective. Her clash with Uranus suggests the unavoidable frustration of dealing with the shock of the unexpected as well as the desire for freedom and independence in the face of situations we cannot control that shake the very foundation of our comfort (or at least what we were settling for). She also makes a harsh aspect to Neptune leaving the door wide open for uncertainty, deception, false information, and difficult to diagnose illness. Oh, and getting your feelings hurt when reality doesn’t match with the mistaken illusion you thought you were operating under.

Okay, now for the hard part. If you think of this place called earth as a classroom, consider this retrograde a final exam in a course called Relationships and Resources. There’s a theme for every sign of the zodiac that’ll include the trigger behind events, the blockage, and the blind spot. Fortunately, there’s also a lifeline to help you overcome the obstacles and a special opportunity that will present should you so choose to take it. Want to know what these are? I thought you might–head over to my Amazon page where I’ve written a special guide (cheat sheet) specifically for your sign.
