This shift has required one of you to try to maintain balance and composure, although you may have been masking your real emotions. Part of the problem could be the refusal to see not only a partner, but also self in the cold light of reality. One of you may have been waiting for an offer, but there’s a lack of commitment, broken promises, and/or selfishness rooted in the past that’s beginning to make this relationship feel like a futile waste of time. Even so, one of you may be holding to the course and denying yourself in the process. Sooner or later though, someone will realize that living a false self is much too high of a price to pay.
