Shooting it Straight – Air Signs/Jul 29 – Aug 2

Here’s a heads-up on the challenge or obstacle you’re likely to face in your love relationship this week (problem) and what’s at the root of it (action). The advice is irreverent, a bit cheeky, unfiltered and admittedly brazen. The message is putting either you or your partner on notice. You know who you are! If you’re offended by the truth or strong language–stop here.

Are you satisfied with the rut you’re in? You’ve gotten so complacent that you don’t even realize you’re consistently doing the same thing just because it’s comfortable. Something is moving backwards that requires you to look at the finer points of a situation. Perhaps there’s been a lack of commitment to the relationship or one of you feels a sense of entitlement. In either case, the expectations are problematic and the results are too many personal demands. Additionally, a partner or those in your social circle could be making harsh judgments, criticizing, or making unkind remarks that may/may not be warranted. On the other hand, your own nitpicking, pettiness, or niggling words could be haunting you. This may connect to a misjudgment about investing in an attraction, entertainment, or distractions that leads to heartache rather than the security you were hoping for.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

If you don’t love you, you can’t love them.

Bag lady you gon’ miss your bus. You can’t hurry up, ’cause you got too much stuff.” There’s a lot in those lyrics from Ms. Badu. Perhaps it’s wise in a circumstance not to believe everything you are told. Instead, you may decide to limit involvement in an unexpected situation that has caused some frustration, especially if you feel it’s unrealistic. This is all well and good unless it’s become the standard rut response when you know you should be making changes that would offer a fresh start. If one of you is unwilling to face the future because of insecurities, too many loose ends, or some unfinished business, you’ll need to quickly adapt to a circumstance threatening to move forward without you. This new beginning could involve altering health habits, traveling the world, changing your job or residence, or transforming a relationship. It’s your choice to either start or stagnate. Make peace with yourself as part of the process.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

People are messy–love ’em or leave ’em.

Not sure about some recent decisions? You’re having to go over some old ground to resolve situations you thought were already handled. Something you desire is either becoming an obsession or a source of guilt and regret. Having to constantly start again is wearing you out and wearing thin. You need to get it right the first time so you can stop questioning your judgment and letting emotions overtake you. Procrastination with regard to loose ends is the source of unraveling. There’s a call to action you’ve failed to address and it could be that the fear of making a mistake IS the mistake. But blunders can be blessings unless you fail to learn from a faux pas. As soon as you stop denying a truth, rejecting alternatives, or refusing to walk away from unsalvageable situations, you can put something to rest.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Put up or shut up.
