Shooting it Straight – Air Signs/July 22-26

Here’s a heads-up on the challenge or obstacle you’re likely to face in your love relationship this week (problem) and what’s at the root of it (action). The advice is irreverent, a bit cheeky, unfiltered and admittedly brazen. The message is putting either you or your partner on notice. You know who you are! If you’re offended by the truth or strong language–stop here.

Sudden realizations take place this week concerning ties to family, security, some form of investment or the break up of a long-term relationship or situation. Hopefully, this bolt out of the blue arrives as a psychological insight rather than a shocking or traumatic crisis that affects health or assets. Even so, it’s very likely that losses, disagreements, or disapproval create the catalyst that upends the status quo. The consequence may be circumstances that force you to make sudden changes that neither of you had planned on. The good news, if there is any, is that you now see a situation for what it is and everything is exposed and out in the open. You recognize how a lack of flexibility coupled with pressures coming from outside of the relationship are making an impact. If you’ve been desperately trying to keep up the facade, events are sure to disrupt the plan. However, this inevitable change from an old way of being could be exhilarating. The process requires you to give up something old that’s been holding you back for something new–it’s called freedom.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

“Tradition is a guide and not a jailer.” W. Somerset Maugham

It’s the right thing to do. But right for whom? Either of you may be questioning the commitment or each other’s personal beliefs. Does this mean giving up personal power and allowing your mate to take responsibility for life choices that should be yours? What do you value? A stable marriage? Money in the bank? It’s time to examine whether you actually want to play by the rules or step outside of convention. Perhaps one of you is holding out and not living up to expectations. Maybe you got what you wanted only to realize that it actually wasn’t what you wanted and that you’re just settling. On the other hand, deep-rooted fears of loss or abandonment could be making one of you unnecessarily paranoid, suspicious and overly cautious in this relationship. Holding on tightly to a situation that doesn’t suit you could come with a higher price tag than you anticipate. You can still find a compromise without losing your identity.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

From start to finish.

Well, isn’t that rich? That golden opportunity was right there within your grasp. What happened? You’re frustrated just thinking about it, although you may not be surprised that it didn’t go your way. In fact, you might have had half-hearted expectations to begin with. For either of you, fear of breaking away from something deemed secure has deafened you to the call of opportunity. Now there’s a breakdown in your connection and plans have fallen through, possibly due to a third party. The false start is making you feel emotionally insecure about doing what you must to get rid of whatever is unfulfilling or unhealthy. You’ll have to face the fact that some situations can’t be saved. It’s not the opportunity you were looking for, but it is one that gives you the chance to examine your pain and move on from it once and for all.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

With good acoustics, no one frequency dominates the listening experience. Can you hear you, now?
