Shooting it Straight – Earth Signs/July 1-5

Here’s a heads-up on the challenge or obstacle you’re likely to face in your love relationship this week (problem) and what’s at the root of it (action). The advice is irreverent, a bit cheeky, unfiltered and admittedly brazen. The message is putting either you or your partner on notice. You know who you are! If you’re offended by the truth or strong language–stop here.

Follow the leader. But who is that? A misjudgement over who exactly is in control is causing delays or a revision of your schedule, plans, time, budget, or emotions and its putting you in a mood. Someone is driving the point home that they need greater satisfaction, but may be in conflict with the partner about what that means. On the one hand, it could be very easy to get what you want (or what you think you want). But therein lies the rub… perhaps a bit too easy. So easy, in fact, that you end up selling yourself short in pursuit of immediate gratification. So… is what you want helpful or harmful? Grappling with the shadow side of a situation that inclines you to go overboard or bend your principles may be a quick fix temporarily, but could ultimately deliver a whole lot less. If you’re looking for a victory, it doesn’t come easy. Learn to negotiate in the fight for your own interests. That doesn’t mean bulldozing over your partner, but also not allowing them to ride roughshod over you. There’s more than one way to reach a destination–perhaps you should take turns driving.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Whether we take the scenic route or the short cut, I’m down for the ride.

Are we rivals or roommates, friends or foe? Sometimes it’s hard to tell when you’re torn between head and heart or maybe you both just need different things. This could have started because you didn’t fully consider what the attraction was built on or you’re now coming to terms with the reality of having a real relationship and the challenging lessons that entails. It could be that what started out as merely a conquest turned into something more substantive that quickly took hold over your better senses. On the other hand, maybe it’s you who’s getting mixed signals. Perhaps there’s been some misrepresentation and one of you is not who you seem to be. There’s an attempt to rule with an iron fist in a velvet glove. Either someone is coming off all soft and caring while they’re making bitch moves behind the other one’s back or someone’s hard shell exterior is just the coating for a marshmallow filling–all bark with no bite. Whatever the case, a situation may involve the decision to separate or time apart before things get out of hand. To get the best results, you’ll need to use both intellect and intuition.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Had your fill? Hope you enjoyed it ’cause I’ve had mine–of this situation. In spite of attempts at trying to establish a relationship or put a situation on firmer footing, a habitual tendency toward selfishness, materialism, waste, or downright crudeness has one of you looking for new horizons and a place at the table. Someone finally realizes that they will either need to gain control or forever be controlled, especially when there’s been a long record of resistance to sharing the love (and the money). If you’re the one having the light bulb moment, what have you been waiting for? You’re dealing with someone way too tight and insecure to help you get ahead–the only thing they’re willing to offer is criticism. Your hesitation or doubt is playing right into their greedy hands. Great minds think alike–it’s time to align yourself with someone who shares the same goals and values. But hard work pays off through realism, not idealism. Do an exhaustive review of your options before striking out to make your move. If anyone is dull or dimwitted, don’t let it be you. Just deal with the facts, ma’am.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

The clock is ticking.
