Shooting it Straight – Earth Signs/June 10-14

Here’s a heads-up on the challenge or obstacle you’re likely to face in your love relationship this week (problem) and what’s at the root of it (action). The advice is irreverent, a bit cheeky, unfiltered and admittedly brazen. The message is putting either you or your partner on notice. You know who you are! If you’re offended by the truth or strong language–stop here.

Are we having fun yet? TMI–one of you is sharing just a little bit too much information. Lips could get loose with a few drinks. Either of you may be acting as if you know a whole lot more than you really do. Perhaps one of you thought it helpful to pass out details on how to make a few improvements. Or maybe friends have offered some “helpful advice.” But you can’t just take someone at their word right now because it’s likely that what they’re saying serves an agenda. “The half-truth is often a whole lie.” The impetus behind it all could be emotional exploitation or one of you taking advantage of the other in the relationship. It might also involve a third party or surprise at finding out who’s invited to the party (or not). Guess who’s coming to dinner? With guess being the operative word here, an over-active imagination could really be the culprit. Whether it’s a figment or for real, what either of you believes will determine how much cooperation you’re willing to grant. Someone’s pulling out a flash light to focus on the cracks–neediness, insecurity, misrepresentation, secrets, lies. Suspicion has set in–“we want pre-nup.” But to heal this situation, a whole lot more needs to be shared than just exchanges about the weaker points of this connection. Is this relationship a help or a hindrance? Is it time to cancel or get counseling?

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

You’re going to have to pay for the truth or the truth is, you’re gonna have to pay.

You’re having to get educated on coming to terms with life because someone’s been handed their walking papers. Maybe this involves issues related to being alone, illness, lack (of resources or knowledge), or age. It could be you’ve decided to turn your back on the suffering or anything that smacks of liability, either yours or your partner’s, for the sake of your own mental health. Or is the real truth that intimacy scares the hell out of you and you’ve opted out? Perhaps one of you has become so self-reliant that you couldn’t be bothered to realize you were drifting apart and now you wonder why you were rejected. Whatever is going on, this is a stressful period where you’re doing a lot of thinking–or should be–about what’s gone wrong and why. Who or what are you placing your faith in? What you know or believe is currently being challenged. Perhaps the trail has run cold on something you were seeking. Someone who was “supposed to have all the answers” may have let the other one down and either of you may refuse to accept responsibility for the stark contrast between word and deed. How can you make better choices if you continue to reject the truth and keep dubbing the dialogue? If it looks like a duck, then damn it–it’s a duck! It pays to see yourself and your partner as is, rather than how you’d like it to be. Look closely at your situation. There are valuable lessons–but only if you’re paying attention.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Keep that drama outside. I need to focus.

I don’t know if three days have passed, but something is coming back to life. Are you aware that you need to take action and that you can’t ignore a situation or avoid making a decision any longer? If either of you think some recent choices are finally catching up with you–you’re right. If you think you know all of the answers, one of you will soon realize–you’re dead wrong. Stop procrastinating and deal with the new facts you’ve discovered, mostly about yourself. If you keep listening to wrong information or bad advice, you’ll keep making the wrong choices–ones that aren’t good for you because you kept buying in to what someone told you. Isn’t this getting old or do you enjoy having to start over? Do you trust your own judgment? Sit with yourself for a minute. Start listening the first time, particularly to your own inner voice. Unless, that is, it’s talking through emotion and telling you that you’re completely blameless in the current situation. I mean, you did make a choice, right? Even if that was to do nothing. Get wise to the facts–you can do better.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Unplug–from any form of artificial intelligence–including people.
