Shooting it Straight – Fire Signs/May 27-31

Here’s a heads-up on the challenge or obstacle you’re likely to face in your love relationship this week (problem) and what’s at the root of it (action). The advice is irreverent, a bit cheeky, unfiltered and admittedly brazen. The message is putting either you or your partner on notice. You know who you are! If you’re offended by the truth or strong language–stop here.

Is someone upset because the partnership is not valued or taken seriously? Does misery really love company? Commitment could be a real issue, especially when one of you feels bitter, resentful, or burned out. But you can’t very well live in la-la land if someone you care about is suffering. Don’t pretend to be naive or act like you don’t see the hurt. The problem is that one of you is stuck in the past while the other is focused on future possibilities. Perhaps it’s because something you didn’t anticipate has occurred that left either of you feeling less than loved. But isn’t it time for change? That can’t happen unless you both come to terms with the past and leave it squarely behind. Consider the possibility that expectations (or lack thereof) are creating a negative reality. At the very least, one of you directed effort toward the wrong thing–either to make an impression or to save a situation where perhaps personal gain or self-interest was the underlying motive. Now you’ll have to cross a bridge and decide whether it’s foolish to turn your back on a valuable relationship that can still be saved or if you need to rethink a connection or habit that perpetually disappoints.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Yeah, still here. Just waiting for you to live up to the promises you made a long time ago.

Still looking for a “real” partner? Are you trying to figure out if there are three of you in this arrangement? What’s the harm in a little surveillance? Perhaps a social media troll (I mean scroll) can explain the unpredictability or provide the answer to that burning question about what your love interest is up to. Uh, sounds like someone’s jealous. Don’t let this situation make you jaded or defensive, Leo. In fact, you’re standing at the crossroads between the past and the future. Perhaps you just need to get a little better at setting boundaries and negotiating what you want. That sarcastic edge you’ve taken on as of late belies the fact that deep down you’re really a lover, not a fighter. So if you’re tempted to say something you’ve been repressing, be careful of the tone and tenor. While a bit of humor can make the medicine go down a whole lot easier, too much sugar can also kill you. Stop sugar-coating everything and trying to charm your way in or out of something. Likewise, there’s no need to eat out of your partner’s hand either. The strain or tension in your relationship means it’s time for you to honestly express your feelings. Let go of your insecurities and get out of people-please mode. You do you.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Love you like you mean it.

What motivates and excites you? Changing circumstances could demand immediate action toward new opportunities, but you have to leave the past behind in order to find them. Your relationship has transitioned into uncharted territory and changed in ways that are inexplicable. You can’t even pinpoint when this happened. As a result, a situation could force you to release some old emotional ties, an expectation, or the residual effect of an old love affair. Easier said than done when memories (maybe about someone who broke your heart) keep cropping up in the most disconcerting manner. What you need now is to rely on faith rather than obsessing about fears of how it could all go wrong again. Some small changes, even in your attitude, could place you on the horizon of a new and better social or romantic frontier.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

If you want to get rid of the dirt, go for detailing not just the basic wash.
