Shooting it Straight: Water Signs/May 13-17

Love is a many splintered (excuse me, splendored) thing. It all depends on whose side of the story you buy into. Here’s a heads-up on the challenge or obstacle you’re likely to face in your love relationship this week (problem) and what’s at the root of it (action). The advice is irreverent, a bit cheeky, unfiltered and admittedly brazen. The message is putting either you or your partner on notice. You know who you are! If you’re offended by the truth or strong language–stop here.

You’ve got to make a decision about what drives your passion. Why did you get involved? Is the partner a means to an end, a mere accessory, or status symbol? Is this a relationship built on mutual interests or just shared disappointments? Concerns may involve a resolution to having two lovers, getting friendly support, beating out a rival, or grappling with your own conflicting needs. You or your partner may vacillate between acting standoffish or craving attention. On the other hand, a constant demand for recognition or affection can be seen as needy and grasping causing the other to withdraw. If this is the case, one of you is probably confused by the waffling or misrepresentation of emotion. The end result may be a sense of powerlessness, frustration, anger, or jealousy. Perhaps it’s time for one of you to get out of your head and act with more heart or deal with personal insecurities that create drama or bitchy behavior. Trust your gut (or someone in the know) in guiding matters more to your liking rather than over a cliff.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Does thank you really do justice? They put up with a lot of sh$!

The silence is deafening. Someone’s either turning their back on a bullying tyrant who refuses to grow up or running away from problems. There is a decision to cut off anything that threatens the sense of security. Right now you’re especially protective about establishing stability in your life and more willing to defiantly assert your position or rights to uphold it. The logical, if not severe, approach this time around is due to some past disappointments that included some measure of suffering–illness, financial hardship, single parenting, betrayal, separation. And since you don’t want to ever revisit that ugliness again, you’re re-examining the issue of whose word is “the law?” Either of you may have to face the music and answer important questions about abuse of power or authority. If you don’t know how to handle control, get some advice.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

You are not being heard. Put it on blast. Can you hear me now?

What’s holding you back? Should I stay or should I go? Answers, ideas or resolutions seem to be slim to none right now. Could the answer be right outside the gate? Yeah, that small thing that looks like opportunity. But wait. Is the grass really greener on the other side of the fence? The situation that looks so appealing at first glance may actually be unreliable, at the very least unpredictable. Who has time for love anyway when career is calling or bills are mounting? On the other hand, you or your partner could be bound to one another by choosing to play the roles of prisoner and warden. Sudden and unexpected demands make one of you feel trapped. Get out of your head and free yourself. It’s a great big world out there.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Fly solo sometimes. You’ll be happier and more interesting on the connecting flight.
