Shooting it Straight: Water Signs/May 6-10

Hey, you’re human and humans make mistakes. That doesn’t mean you can’t self-correct. Here’s a heads-up on the challenge or obstacle you’re likely to face in your love relationship this week (problem) and what’s at the root of it (action). And just like a shot of good, straight tequila, we’ll chase it down with a little lemon and salt–advice that’s irreverent, a bit cheeky, unfiltered and admittedly brazen. The message is putting either you or your partner on notice. I’ll leave which one of you up to you to decide. If you’re offended by the truth or strong language–stop here.

Could it be that you’re under the influence? (Metaphorically speaking, of course.) For some of you, there is an influence tied to Scorpio or Leo. Something is drawing up emotions related to the past–children, former lovers, people or circumstances from childhood. Perhaps a former indiscretion has created repercussions that you must now deal with presently in your relationship. Circumstances may call for loyalty, leadership, and strength of character. Instead, you may be faced with or using bullying tactics to influence the situation. Try to examine whether blaming your partner is really the answer or if dealing with your own shadow is the key. It could be a failure to let go of the past that’s keeping either of you stuck. Frustration or anger may actually be an indication that there is a lack of confidence, which in turn, creates doubt and self-defeat. Have the courage to rise to the occasion and channel your desires constructively through diplomacy. Lend support to your partner, but don’t cave to the guilt card, especially if you’ve given your best. Have you?

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Don’t let it all hang out. Save some of it.

Frustration can tip the scales about what’s fair or who should be in charge. Getting help, information, recognition, attention or sharing the wealth could be at the center of it all. One of you may be miserly, careless or burning through resources. Any favors between you may be extended with lots of strings attached that keep you tied to one another. You’ll need to recognize when you’re being helped versus held hostage. Restoring the balance in your exchange is the focus. When neither of you can agree on your ideas about equality, tempers can flair and narcissistic behavior emerges. Don’t become pushy with your agenda. You’ll get better results from your partner by maintaining an open and friendly attitude. There’s no need to burn yourself out with a negative attitude. The sun is still shining a light on an opportunity–use it by being positive.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Keep that #&$% to yourself. Who made you the authority?

Who’s the victim here? Are you closing off to new opportunities? One of you may feel pinned to a circumstance that’s out of your hands. You may be grappling with serious illness, loss or betrayal. But more than anything, you or a partner may need to change an attitude–you could be a victim of your own thinking. If you’re not careful, your thoughts will create a reality you don’t want. Either of you may need to practice greater self-reliance. In the words of Tim Gunn–“make it happen.” Get off the negative loop, pick up the pieces, do what you have to do and keep moving. Who knows? Maybe after the storm passes and the dust has settled, you’ll realize how fresh everything is again.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Cry me a river. Or better yet–don’t. Use your head.
