Shooting it Straight: Air Signs/May 6-10

Hey, you’re human and humans make mistakes. That doesn’t mean you can’t self-correct. Here’s a heads-up on the challenge or obstacle you’re likely to face in your love relationship this week (problem) and what’s at the root of it (action). And just like a shot of good, straight tequila, we’ll chase it down with a little lemon and salt–advice that’s irreverent, a bit cheeky, unfiltered and admittedly brazen. The message is putting either you or your partner on notice. I’ll leave which of you up to you to decide. If you’re offended by the truth or strong language–stop here.

Maybe things have taken a turn for the worse and your relationship is feeling a bit icy. Some unexpected disappointment has occurred that makes you feel as if you’re no longer in control. Perhaps you’re out of sync with your partner and it feels like a dead end when you try to create some beneficial changes. There could be a focus on travel, money, change or the future but one of you has decided to close off to suggestions or constructive advice. What you may not take into account is that you’ve likely played a hand in the events that are currently playing out. Mixed messages and efforts to avoid being hurt could mean expecting too much or too little from a situation. If you want to turn that wheel around, you’ll need to act like you still care.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

Hey, you’re taking this thing way too seriously. Bitter is not a good look.

You or your partner may be unpredictable or you may be pining after someone who is unavailable. It’s possible that either of you was overconfident in thinking the relationship was more stable or committed than it actually is resulting in one of you feeling unappreciated. Perhaps you are more focused on career or financial concerns and don’t have anything left to give to a partner. If this is the case, your significant other may be susceptible to temptation. Total disregard for each other or obsessive self-interest can undermine what you really want. Unless you’re dealing with an outright liar or opportunist, it’s time to make some plans–together. Perhaps date night with a romantic meal is in order? And there’s more to cooking than just the kitchen!

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

If you don’t know, I can’t help you. It starts with pulling your clothes off.

What’s the plan and does it include–you? Perhaps one of you has suddenly realized that you’re not getting what you deserve out of the relationship and settling for crumbs. A situation doesn’t provide the reliability you’d hoped for. As a result, either you or your partner may be looking for satisfaction elsewhere. If you feel your ambitions are justified, you may decide to become more conscientious about restoring the balance. That may include getting some advice. On the other hand, love may just have to wait because of a busy career or pressing financial obligations. If doing you is mandatory, don’t make empty promises to your partner that you can’t keep.

And what is it that either of you may need to know but don’t really want to hear?

One for me and one for you. Love is better when you love yourself too.
