“Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because it’s only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential.” Barack Obama
It can be lonely at the top. What is the price of your success? Are you feeling the pressure? Have you taken on too much? Overextended yourself? You may be buckling under the burden of too many obligations due to the pursuit of power, status or money. These ambitions may interfere with personal relationships or other areas of your life. Excessive self-reliance can create complications by driving you to take on undue responsibilities. However, without a team effort toward a goal, a project or pursuit may not complete as planned. In fact, the stress of overworking can begin to wear on your health; especially your back or heart. You may have been working at maximum capacity for quite some time and receiving very little reward for your hard work. You may be averse to change or meeting with resistance from others. Perhaps you were manipulated into taking on more than your fair share. You’ll need to examine what your limitations are and whether you’re capable of taking on more. Remember that sitting at the top of the heap also carries the burden of sustaining sovereignty. It could be that you are simply attaching greater importance to a situation than necessary. The bar you set for yourself may not be reasonable or even humanly possible. Surely nothing is more important than your emotional and physical health and the important connections you share with others. You may need to delegate and release something in order to gain in these other essential areas of your life.
