This card carries a dichotomy between self-sufficiency versus dependency on others. You may be at peace while leisurely enjoying the pleasure of your own company.  You may be focused on a hobby, gardening, communing with nature, or spending time with a beloved pet. There is sanctity in solitude and a sense of well-being and self-worth through mastering both the physical and emotional. This also applies to mastering resources and your desire for financial security. As a result, efforts may be directed toward self-employment and the attainment of a goal, money, or success and proper management of assets. In fact, this day could bring rewards related to unearned income or fortunate property or real estate matters, perhaps through family or business connections. Ultimately, however, it is the discipline, perseverance, and belief in your own capabilities that provide for your success.

This aura of confidence in self can attract suitors or secret admirers. You may be giving or receiving recognition from others for your sense of refinement, grace, beauty, skill, and talent. Consequently, you could also be attracted to someone who is unattainable or unavailable. The 9 of Pentacles ties to Venus in Virgo and can reflect an unreasonably high standard of perfection demanded of a partner. The resulting quest for such an ideal becomes either excessive isolation or the insistence at being “kept” (i.e. mistress). Unmet expectations on your part or that of others can result in deep disappointment.

Negatively, you may be the target of envy, jealousy, gossip or rumors that challenge you to remain true to your higher self. Financial instability, theft or poor choices may threaten your security or reputation. You are encouraged to examine what you attract when seeking fulfillment outside of self.
