It would be hard to expect anything other than disappointment to arrive if that’s the energy of your mindset. You may feel bitter, resentful, burned out, or mistreated in some way, but if you’re still focused on past grievances or loss, there’s little chance for you to attract a different experience—not because you can’t, but because your cynicism says you won’t.
Perhaps you’re still stuck in a pool of pessimism because you’re starting to question those around you and whether they really have your best interests at heart. Maybe you’re still pining for a lover from the past, the one that got away, or the life you once had with old friends. But the bigger lesson is to examine why you’re not doing for yourself what you’ve been hoping to receive from others. You may be surprised at just how smoothly matters begin to flow when you rely on yourself to make things happen and to make yourself happy. On the other hand, your concern may be more about fighting for others who fail to fight for themselves. If so, it’s time to get clear about which battles actually belong to you and where you should direct your personal power.
While you might cling to the past, you can’t actually live in it. You can certainly repeat it if you continue to set yourself up by getting (re)involved with people, habits, and situations destined for a letdown in the original storyline, the sequel, and any adaptation thereafter.
