Lilith, the Demon(ized) Temptress is Retrograde in Virgo

Rock Candy Series| The Love Asteroids & Your Relationship

January 18 – April 27, 2023

According to the Jewish Talmud, Lilith was the first wife of Adam, who as his equal, refused to subjugate herself or be sexually submissive. Naturally, Lilith was banished from the Garden of Eden, sent to hell, and abruptly replaced by the more suitable Eve as an obedient partner to Adam. By some accounts, she is the snake who tempted Eve which led to her eventual downfall.

Lilith’s reputation is one of the sexually alluring temptress of men and represents the modern day prototype of the femme fatale. But it is her stark refusal of the passive, feminine stereotype that thrusts power within a union into the spotlight and sometimes emphasizes problems of sexual expectation and criticism of performance manifested as impotence, frigidity, or affairs.

Her placement in a chart can point to love triangles, rejection, divided loyalties, and suspicions surrounding commitment and fidelity that affect sexual intimacy. She stands as a clear indication of repressed anger connected to favoritism, rivalry, and not being “the chosen one” and stokes doubt in a relationship about the loyalty or integrity of one of the partners. For men with patriarchal views, her presence incites attempts at sexual domination and derogatory projections onto women that include labels like “the bitch.”
